FAQ: Why does SVI use drop-off windows instead of exact appointment times?

FAQ

Safe drop-off ensures every pet is cared for on schedule, with time for thorough review and individualized attention.

At most veterinary clinics, you’re used to getting a precise appointment slot. So it may feel unusual to be asked to drop your pet off at either 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM without a set exam time.

But at Sage Veterinary Imaging, there’s a good reason for this approach—and it’s all about providing the safest, most efficient care possible.

How drop-off windows work

We schedule all outpatient imaging procedures—ultrasound, CT, and MRI—within two structured windows:

  • Morning drop-off: 9:00 AM, with pickup between 12:00–12:30 PM

  • Afternoon drop-off: 1:00 PM, with pickup between 4:00–4:30 PM

Why we use this system

Unlike a typical clinic schedule, advanced imaging requires coordinating multiple moving parts: radiologists, anesthesia, imaging equipment, and recovery. By grouping patients into morning and afternoon blocks, our team can:

  • Review every patient’s history and medical needs together.

  • Prioritize time-sensitive or complex cases.

  • Use resources efficiently and keep cases running smoothly.

What this means for your pet

This model ensures each patient gets individualized attention, while also allowing flexibility for urgent or unexpected situations. It means our radiologist can focus on what matters most: your pet’s safety and the quality of their images.

Our priority is safe, efficient care

While we understand the desire for exact timing, this system helps us balance fairness, safety, and efficiency across all patients each day. If you have concerns about scheduling, our team is always happy to discuss your pet’s needs and provide reassurance.
