FAQ: What should I expect when dropping my pet off for imaging?
From check-in to consent forms, our team makes drop-off simple, efficient, and reassuring for both pets and their families.
If you’re new to Sage Veterinary Imaging, you may notice our drop-off process works a little differently than what you’ve experienced at a traditional vet clinic. Instead of staying with your pet in an exam room, you’ll leave them with our team for a few hours while we complete their imaging. Here’s why, and what to expect along the way.
Step 1: A warm welcome
When you arrive at your scheduled drop-off time, our reception team will greet you and check you in.
Step 2: A quick discussion with the clinical team
A member of our clinical team will review your pet’s visit, confirm important details, and answer questions. At this stage, you’ll also complete any necessary consent forms. To make things easier, you can review the consent form in advance, and we’ll have you sign it when you arrive.
Step 3: Transition to the treatment area
Once check-in is complete, your pet will be taken to the treatment area where they’ll wait for their exam. Most appointments take about three hours. You’re free to leave during this time and return for pickup at your scheduled time—or any time up until 5 pm.
Why drop-off is essential
Unlike a traditional clinic with one-on-one exam rooms, we’ve designed our facility to move patients smoothly through imaging services. Grouping patients this way allows our team to prioritize based on medical need, manage anesthesia safely, and ensure that each patient has enough time for both imaging and recovery.
Why owners can’t accompany pets
Our treatment areas are designed for speed, safety, and efficient patient flow—not for shared owner-pet access. This means we can’t allow owners to accompany pets to the back, even though that may feel different from what you’re used to.
Built for safety and efficiency
While the drop-off model may feel unfamiliar, every detail is designed to keep patients safe, minimize delays, and ensure each pet gets the care they need without interruption.
